Moving and Labeling Instructions
Lab responsibilities:
- All materials that are Flammable, Reactive, or Energetic (aka, cylinders) must be removed from the lab
- Chemicals that do not fall in these groups may remain in the lab only if they’re within hard-affixed casework (must be within immobile cabinets and behind closed doors)
- Biohazardous waste (sharps) must be placed in casework or removed
- Broken glassware boxes must be relocated or scheduled for pick-up
- All chemicals being moved by researchers must be transported in secondary containment using appropriate carts and containers
- Contact EHRS for containers
EHRS responsibilities:
- EHRS will remove all waste in Satellite Accumulation Areas. No request required
- EHRS will remove unwanted chemicals for disposal
- Contact keoneil@upenn.edu for guidance so EHRS can identify items to be discarded
